MADE IN CORNWALL AND PROUD TO PROTECT IT

From the wild North Cornish coast to the rugged hills of the moors, we love where we live, so we want to make Elemental gin in a way that's as respectful to the environment as it can be. Using traditional methods and making genuinely small batches we craft each bottle by hand right here, on-site in our family-run distillery.

OUR BOTTLES

Our glass bottles are fully recyclable and we have even opted for a non-plastic print method – which although can be a bit rough around the edges we think just complements our ethos of simple, beautiful, and hand-crafted. We are working on refill cartons or pouches and the hope is that you will keep these bottles and just top up with a refill when empty! In the meantime, we also think they make great treasure bottles for sea glass, or candlestick holders when the nights draw in.  We use FCS-certified paper for all of our labels as well as corks that are all fashioned from wood. We've switched from labour and resource-intensive wax seals which although look lovely, are not environmentally friendly, to topping each bottle with a bio-degradable cellulose seal. All of this together, with the exception of the adhesive on our labels, make our bottles plastic-free!

 OUR PACKAGING

We're tired of seeing plastic bags on our beaches, so you'll always find us using paper ones if you buy something from our market stall. We use Flexi-Hex packaging for all of our retail bottles, which is totally plastic-free and recyclable. These guys started out making packaging for surfboards! We love it. For wholesale and larger orders, we are proud to reuse packaging that unavoidably comes into the distillery rather than send it to landfill.

INGREDIENTS

We use organic grain alcohol (in line with the Soil Association’s standards regarding Organic products) and local Cornish spring water from the family-run team at Just Water on Bodmin Moor. Our botanical ingredients are all ethically sourced and we use local suppliers where possible, with some even coming directly from Cornish producers, such as local Cornish chamomile from Tregothnan – the first tea gardens in the UK.

 PEOPLE, PROJECTS & CHARITIES

We want Elemental to make a positive impact on the people around us – from the people that make it to the people that drink it. We have a great team here at Elemental HQ and work with some absolutely awesome local partners and suppliers – always trying to keep it Cornish wherever possible.  We have a fab little community around our distillery in Tregonetha that has shown great support and we hope we helped a little by offering our community free hand sanitiser at our refill station during the worst periods of the COVID pandemic in 2020.

THE PLANET

We have made big commitments to sustainable operations such as zero to landfill, switching to a renewable energy provider, and are beginning to explore our own renewable energy sources. We have reviewed our CO2 emissions with Carbon Footprint Ltd and are in talks with a number of projects and organisations to find the best way to offset the carbon that we are currently producing as a business. As we grow, we will continue to ensure we are following best practices and working towards being as sustainable as we can be. We use Royal Mail to deliver our gin which means we are using existing delivery routes rather than creating new ones, which all goes to help lessen our carbon footprint and impact on the environment.

HOPES & ASPIRATIONS

We are on a mission to reduce any negative impact that we have on the environment and are looking deep into every area of production and distribution so that we can make better, more sustainable choices. Our eco ambitions are grand, from refill pouches to becoming carbon neutral, and we know it’ll take a while to get there. We hope you'll join us on our journey, and if you can help us get closer, then your suggestions are always welcome.
